Good interview! (and the previous Mark Sleboda one too, on the same subject)
IMO, there's really one angle which would have Trump winding down the Ukraine conflict - and that's in order for US to focus more seriously on conflict with Iran. We've already started off on this trajectory, with the apparent slowing or stopping of anti-aircraft hardware to Kiev, because it is needed in both Israel itself, and in dozens of US bases which have a more-or-less hostage function if either the US or the host countries overtly cooperate in potential future Israeli strikes on Iran.
This escalation ladder had a visible cool-down before the election, with the latest Israeli strike being underwhelming and no follow-up taking place. But knowing Netanyahu, it may well pick up again. Trump, if such a thing were even possible, would present Israel with even more of a blank check than Blinken/Biden/Sullivan. Or present the same blank check with louder more public enthusiasm.
And so if the Trump White House or US State Dept makes Iran the "priority", then some deal with Russia becomes necessary, because Russia can make life most unpleasant for Iran's opponents on the battlefield -- and has all the reason to do so, considering US participation and ultimate responsibility for a long list of bloody actions by the regime in Keiv.
