Well, I am reserving final judgment, but I see a lot of bad signs. That is just my current interpretation, and I don't allege that it is fact. I am aghast at his policy on Gaza, and this business about Canada and Denmark? Perhaps it is just his strategy for making a deal, but as a Canadian I look askance, to say the least.
These might be what some refer to as ballons, statements made to see what reaction if any they receive. As you stated Russia is very competent and fortunately has some great leadership now or we would be past talking about Ukr. and embroiled in it ourselves with half measures and less than optimal Leadership. Everyone knows Ukr. government is now a dictatorship. Its the people who still reside there that efforts to end the disaster Biden Admin. is leaving be resolved. Lord willing it will be done absent direct kinetic warfare between 2 Nuclear Superpowers. This is the only path that has promise to have acceptable outcome. This is an administration faced with the biggest realignment in foreign policy since WW2. Their impossible job is manage the defeat of NATO and decline of the United States without looking weak. This climb down is so antithetical to America’s self-image and projection of world power, it is probably impossible to pull off, but it is only way to secure a negotiated settlement with Russia. Barring that, America will simply give up supporting Ukraine and leave it to its fate. It knows the war is over and Russia has won.
