There's an interesting parallel between Israel dividing and conquering the various Muslim factions while keeping them involved in intrigues against each other and the Crusader kingdoms which lasted from 1099 until 1291 when they were finally driven out of the Holy Land. Israel, like the Kingdom of Jerusalem, isn't wealthy and has external sponsors who keep the regime supplied with weapons and money. How much longer those external sponsors can continue to do so is unknown. What the Muslims lack is a Saladin who can unite the various quarreling factions around the common goal of expelling their provocateurs from the region.
Likely with the destruction of Syria Israel has made a deal with Mephistopheles in the form of Erdogan who has now managed to bring the borders of his new Ottoman Empire right up to the border of Israel, removing a buffer zone which had served to keep the powerful and competent Turkish military far away.
nice historic parallel. so.... we haven't come much further than the 12th and 13th century then. sobering thought on many levels.
there's a thick Islamic soup (how many competing groups did you say, at least 9 or so?) and no Saladin, but that's also because "Islam" is neither a unified nor a uniting concept. they'll have to be pacified separately, each (sub)group serving its own interest(s).

On deck: Russia sends Oreshniks to Belarus on NATO’s doorstep amid Syria chaos
What does the Syria crisis mean for the multipolar world in the post Assad era? Plus more!
@vanessa beeley It appears to me that it was the al-Qaeda groups that surrendered to the SAA, and that the overthrow of the government is theater.
Syria and Russia beat back all of the terrorists while Obama was still in power and they were backed by NATO, Israel and the GCC. The situation today is totally different, so there is no way Syria and Russia “lost” to these unsupported remnants. https://realrawnews.substack.com/p/syrian-government-has-not-surrendered
Ho hum, a Cain and Abel rewrite, murderers forever for eternal wars by USA dominating planet Earth, regime change being "perfectly normal," as planned. War narratives are frankly boring, except for contemplation of civilian victims.
